In November of 2020, Meetup announced a change that prevented Nova Labs from collecting payments for events. This accelerated our plans to switch to a more modern events and member management tool – in this case, Wild Apricot (henceforth known as The Portal).

Here’s what you need to know right now!

  • All event/class registrations are now handled at portal.nova-labs.org
    • If you already had a nova-labs.org account (to handle membership payments, track your equipment sign-offs, etc), we migrated your email address into the system. Just hit the “Forgot password” link to get a reset email sent to your address on file.
    • The event search, calendar view, and basically everything is an improvement over using Meetup!
  • You will still see events listed on meetup.com/nova-makers, however, you’ll be directed back to portal.nova-labs.org in order to register and pay.
  • If an event shows closed on Meetup, don’t trust it!! Go to the event at portal.nova-labs.org to see the accurate space available and to register.

Reservations during Covid

  • Unless you’re signed up for a class, you still need to make a reservation to be in the building at Nova Labs (both 1916 and 1930).
  • Novalabs.zohocreatorportal.com
    • Use the email address you originally used for creating your nova-labs.org account to facilitate easy sign-up.

FAQ

I got an error when I paid for an event at the Nova Labs Portal. What’s going on?

  • As we build our relationship with Wild Apricot and their payment processor, we may trigger a fraud alert until they realize how active we are.
  • Email support@nova-labs.org with the details and we’ll look into it.
  • We expect that we shouldn’t see this error in the near future.

What’s happening to Space Man?

  • “Space Man” is the membership system developed in-house by early Nova Labs members. All of its features (including payments for key members and associate members, and tool sign-offs) will eventually be migrated into Wild Apricot/the portal.

What’s happening to meetup.com/nova-makers?

  • We have a significant number of guests who follow us on Meetup, and it is still a good way for people to find classes and events. We will continue to cross-post events to both the Portal and Meetup for the time being.
