Nova Labs will be launching a Kickstarter campaign on Thursday, April 16 at 7p. Come join us for a launch party!
Because you know it’s all about our space
‘Bout our space
No trouble
It’s all about our space
‘Bout our space
No trouble
It’s all about our space
‘Bout our space
No trouble
It’s all about our space
‘Bout our space… space… space… space…
Yeah it’s pretty clear
We ain’t finished dude,
But we can make it, make it, like we wanted to.
The Nova Labs crowdfunding campaign will raise the money necessary to complete the remaining tasks outfitting and furnishing the space. There has been LOTS of incredible progress getting the new facility renovated to house our maker community. There are still a few more major expenses left to cover.
‘Cause we got those tools tools
That all the makers chase
Putting all the right junk in all the right places.
We are nearing the end of their construction phase. We’ve already got classrooms and workshop space fitted with electricity and WiFi. The incubator offices and kitchen are drawing crowds. It looks amazing, and when everything else is done, it will function amazingly too.
We got workshops, classrooms
They’re quite a sight
‘Cause every inch of them is perfect
From the carpet to the lights
But my momma she told me to worry about the chairs
She says, “You need computers and welders and cleaners for air
You need a place to make silicone molds and composites”
So, if that’s what’s you’re into, then go ahead, support our campaign.
We’ve set the remaining fundraising goal to cover the last few tasks. Classrooms need furniture to become comfy and stylish learning environments. Projectors and AV equipment will round out the educational experience. In the workshop area, dust collection system requires ducting and ventilation installation. Then there are inspections and certifications to acquire.
Because you know it’s all about our space
‘Bout our space
No trouble
It’s all about our space
‘Bout our space
No trouble
It’s all about our space
‘Bout our space
No trouble
It’s all about our space
’bout our space.

The maker community at Nova Labs has grown tremendously, and our first maker space was no longer meeting our needs. So last July we rented a cavernous 10,500 square foot facility at Isaac Newton Square in Reston. Now we need your help to outfit our new digs as THE BEST MAKER SPACE IN THE GALAXY!
Seriously, an amazing amount goes into outfitting the premiere facility in Northern Virginia for people to rediscover the joy of making things. With wood and metal shops. Classrooms. Composites work area. Laser cutters. And more!
Grants, corporate sponsorships, and contributions from our community have already gone a long way towards funding the work. And the work is well underway! We’ve vacated the old space. We’ve completed the engineering and consulting work. Most of the interior partitions and much of the mechanical work is complete. But that’s just the start.
We need your help to finish the job! For things like furniture and computers and A/V equipment to outfit the classrooms where we will be teaching great STEM classes like these.
That’s why we are asking for your support. We are setting the initial Kickstarter goal at $30,000. That will be enough for us to get up and running with the basics. But the more we can raise, the more we can offer the community!
So we hope you will join us to celebrate the launch of our campaign on April 16!
And we hope you will help us meet our goals in the campaign!
And we hope to see you around as part of our community!
Thanks, and don’t forget to rediscover the joy of making things.
We are open! See our COVID-19 Phase III reopening guidelines.
