RESTON, VA — Using a quadcopter fitted with an HD camera, Nova Labs members produced an aerial survey of the new Silver Line at Reston Station. The video was presented to the Committee for Dulles on July 19th, 2013.
Nova Labs Co-Founder, Ted Markson, piloted the quadcopter and captured the video. The raw footage then received some expert video editing and effects help from member Dan Allen. Allen utilized a novel split screen effect that overlayed the drone’s flight path on a map while showing the video footage.
Chuck Veatch of Veatch Commercial Real Estate hosted the event. He along with a representative from Comstock Construction used the video to explain the current state of the project to committee members.
“The video presentation was the highlight of the evening offering a unique perspective of the development underway and on the way at the Wiehle Avenue Metro stop,” Veatch said. He thanked Nova Labs for demonstrating the new technology.
Nova Labs and the DC Area Drone User Group comprise one of the largest groups of enthusiasts building and flying DIY drones in the country.
